Marissa Lawrence, the wife of Jacksonsville Jaguars star quarterback Trevor Lawrence, played college soccer before ending her career because of the COVID pandemic

The Jacksonville Jaguars stunned the NFL world by winning 13 games and clinching the AFC South after firing coach Doug Pederson in the offseason and replacing him with Liam Coen.
Former No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence has been a major catalyst for the turnaround that has the team as Super Bowl contenders, putting forth arguably his best season as a professional. He finished sixth in the league in passing yards and fifth in touchdowns.
Lawrence met his wife, Marissa Lawrence, at Cartersville High School in Cartersville, GA, and started dating in 2016. While the quarterback went to Clemson, Marissa went to Anderson University to play soccer.

She majored in communications and grew to be a starter in midfield by the 2019-2020 season, starting 16 games in what would turn out to be her last season playing soccer.
Marissa Lawrence announced her retirement from the sport in a heartfelt Instagram post, citing the pandemic as a driving factor. This one has been a hard one to start,” she wrote. “How do you say goodbye to something you’ve known your whole life, something you’ve poured so much into, something you love?”

“I’ve played this sport since I was 5. It has grown me, shaped me, taught me, and challenged me. It has given me SO many amazing memories and introduced me to so many amazing people.”
“Though things aren’t ending the way I ever would’ve thought (corona cancelled our season, and it is now in the spring. I graduate in December, so I didn’t get an actual last season of soccer,” Lawrence continued.

“I couldn’t be more thankful or filled with JOY for the times I’ve had with the sport I love. I will miss this game so much. The beautiful game. I’ve worn this jersey with pride and joy, but now it’s time to say goodbye and start the new season that the Lord has prepared for me. I can go into it confidently knowing soccer has been a crucial part in shaping my life. -9 out.”
The pair were engaged in 2020 and married on April 10, 2021. Marissa gave birth to She Lynn Lawrence in January 2025. She now works for an event planning company.

Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars are set to host the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card Round, a game where they’ll be underdogs at home.
He signed a five-year, $275 million extension with Jacksonville in 2024 that includes $200 million guaranteed.
