Eagles’ star tackle Lane Johnson out vs. 49ers

The Philadelphia Eagles will begin their playoffs without a key player.

Star tackle Lane Johnson won’t play Sunday when the Eagles host the 49ers in an NFC wild-card game, the team announced.

Johnson missed time in the regular season with an ankle injury, playing just 10 games, his fewest since 2020. The pesky injury bug has persisted into the post-season.

A five-time All-Pro, including first-team nods in 2017 and 2022, Johnson is in his 13th NFL season. He has two Super Bowl rings with the Eagles.

Johnson was questionable throughout the week, and was ruled out just hours before game-time.

Meanwhile, 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is one of San Francisco’s notable inactives. The team has lost several Pro Bowlers throughout the season, including linebacker Fred Warner, edge Nick Bosa and receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

However, 49ers All-Pro tackle Trent Williams, who missed practice throughout the week, is set play against the Eagles.
