It Took 400 Hours to Make Amanda Seyfried’s Custom Versace Dress for the 2026 Golden Globes

Amanda Seyfried said yes to the Versace dress!

For the 2026 Golden Globes, Seyfried opted for a custom white strapless sweetheart gown with diagonal drapery and a dramatic train-turned-stole. “There are a few houses that I’ve always turned to again and again because I feel comfortable, but I also feel like they’re breaking the mold a little bit,” Seyfried tells Vogue at her final fitting, two days before the Globes. “Versace is one of those houses.”

The actor—and Vogue’s January 2026 digital cover star—was celebrating two nominations: for best performance by a female actor in a motion picture (musical or comedy) for The Testament of Ann Lee, and best performance by a female actor in a limited series, anthology series, or a motion picture made for television for Long Bright River.

Elizabeth Stewart, Seyfried’s longtime stylist, describes the actor’s style as classic and timeless, albeit with a quirky streak. Tonight, that came through in the custom Versace gown, which blends 1950s Old Hollywood glamour with contemporary touches. (A geometric yellow gold and diamond-laden Tiffany & Co. necklace completed the look.) “The drape is the Amanda to me,” Stewart says.

With seamstresses on site to ensure every last pleat is perfect, Seyfried notes, “It’s very flattering to have something built for you, but it also becomes more flattering on you because it was built for you.” Sarah Goetz Salomon, from the Versace team, adds that it took over 400 hours to construct the dress—a fact that makes Seyfried’s eyes bulge in awe.

Win or lose tonight, Seyfried was feeling good in her look. “I don’t need a statue,” she declares. “I already look like one!”
