Coronation Street fans were left hailing when they called a ‘beautiful piece of television’ as a tragic death that took place in Weatherfield last year was finally addressed.
Viewers of the ITV soap will recall that Betsy Swain watched her boyfriend, Mason Radcliffe, lose his life after he was stabbed to death by his brothers in a tragic attack in January 2025.
Mason was trying to turn things around after he was eventually served justice for his cruel bullying campaign against Liam Connor last year. But he struggled to escape his brothers, Matty and Logan, who also caused havoc for other Weatherfield residents
But Mason seemingly sealed his downfall when he agreed to help Betsy’s mum, DS Lisa Swain, try and get to the bottom of her ex-wife’s death. She showed potographs taken at the crime scene of her late partner Becky’s death and revealed that his brothers were behind the murder.
He set about helping her and after getting his brothers questioned, he prepared to leave having accepted a job offer from Stu Carpenter in Germany. However, as he asked Dylan Wilson for help in searching his brother’s flat for a box of photographs for him to take with him, they were caught by the troubled pair and chased, before Mason was fatally stabbed.

Betsy was left heartbroken and months later, her life was turned upside down when Becky returned from the dead on her 18th birthday, claiming her demise was faked due to an undercover operation gone wrong, and that she had been living in Spain the whole time.
But as fans know, Becky was lying through her back teeth and set about getting her family back, as Lisa had moved on with Carla Connor, with the pair getting engaged just days before Becky’s return from the dead. She seemingly succeeded in splitting the couple up, however, her plan to escape the country was brought to a halt last week, thanks to Carla, despite being kidnapped, and Lisa’s colleague DC Kit Green.
After being found tied up in a shipping container by Kit, Carla was determined to find Lisa and Betsy and put a stop to Becky’s manipulation once and for all. But what they didn’t expect was to find the trio involved in a horror multi-vehicle pile-up, leading to Carla and Kit having to help save Betsy and Lisa’s lives.

But there was a moment of satisfaction for fans, as even in her injured state, Lisa sprang into detective mode and arrested Becky. However, the villian soon showed her true colours once again as when Lisa visited her in prison, Becky threatened to take her down with her.
During Monday’s (January 12) Corrie episode, it seemed Becky had a change of heart, after being paid a visit by Betsy. While Becky was pleased to see her, the teen soon laid into her mum, blaming her for Mason’s death, which is the first time the she has brought up the shocking killing with her.
