Oilers sign Quinn Hutson to two-year contract extension

The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with forward Quinn Hutson, the club announced Monday afternoon.

Hutson, 24, has one goal in four NHL games with the Oilers this season. The 5’11” right wing has spent most of the year with the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors, collecting 23 goals and 38 points in 30 games.

According to the club, Hutson’s new contract with the Oilers carries an NHL cap hit of $875,000 — the same as he makes on his existing deal — for both the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons.

An undrafted player, Hutson played his junior career with the USHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks before spending three seasons at Boston University. The North Barrington, IL product scored 23 goals and 50 points in 38 games as a junior with the Terriers in the 2024-25 season.

Hutson elected to end his collegiate career in April of 2025 to sign a two-year, entry-level contract with the Oilers. As he signed with the club as a free agent after the trade deadline (and was therefore not on their reserve list prior to that date), Hutson could not play with the Oilers during their run to the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but he did appear in his first two NHL games at the end of the 2024-25 regular season.

The oldest of four brothers, Quinn Hutson is the only forward of the group and (so far) the only one to go undrafted. The other three are undersized defensemen: Lane Hutson won the Calder Trophy with the Montreal Canadiens in 2025; Cole Hutson is a highly-touted Washington Capitals prospect; Lars Hutson is currently at Muskegon and will be NHL Draft-eligible in 2027.

In 117 games over three seasons at Boston College, Hutson collected 56 goals and 114 points. He most recently suited up for an NHL game with the Oilers on Jan. 3, logging 9:17 of ice time and finishing with a minus-1 rating in a 5-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.
