Teen charged after high-speed police chase in Raleigh :: WRAL.com

A 16-year-old has been taken into custody after a high-speed police chase involving a stolen vehicle in Raleigh on Monday night.
The Franklin County sheriff’s office said a deputy pulled over the teen for running a stop sign at West River Road and Simms Bridge Road around 10:30 p.m. The deputy ran the license plate number and found the vehicle was reported stolen. As deputies tried to stop the vehicle, the driver drove away.
Franklin police used stop sticks, but despite being successful the chase did not end. As the chase continued south on US-1 Capital Boulevard, Wake Forest police attempted to use stop sticks but they were not successful.
The chase ended when the driver hit another vehicle near Thornton Road. The teen attempted to leave the scene, but officers said he was taken into custody after a short chase on foot.
No one was injured in the chase.
The 16-year-old boy is facing charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and assault on a government official. The assault charge is because police said the driver appeared to try to intentionally hit a deputy with the stolen car.
