Turquoise Alert issued for 21-year-old woman missing from Avondale

AVONDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — The Arizona Department of Public Safety issued Tuesday night a Turquoise Alert for a 21-year-old who’s missing from Avondale.

Investigators said Isabella Comas was last seen driving a red 2011 Hyundai Sonata with the Arizona license plate 2EA6LW on Sunday, around 3 p.m. in the area of 111th Avenue and Van Buren Street. DPS said she was reported missing after she didn’t pick up her friend for work like she usually does.

Comas didn’t show up for work on Monday and no one could reach her by phone. Troopers said her cellphone was found through tracking but Comas is still missing.

She’s described as a Hispanic or Latino woman, 5′3″, 110 pounds, with pink hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a baggy navy-blue shirt, blue pants with a white line going down the side of them and possibly wearing sandals.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Avondale Police Department at 623-333-7001.

The Turquoise Alert was established to assist in locating missing persons, including members of the Indigenous community. The death of Emily Pike, a San Carlos Apache tribal member, sparked the creation of the new system.

The difference between an Amber Alert and a Turquoise Alert is that an Amber Alert is issued when there is an abduction, while a Turquoise Alert is for someone who is missing under unknown circumstances. The Turquoise Alert can be issued for people from childhood to age 65, according to DPS.
