Leon G. “Jack” Evans, 72, of Piqua, passed away at 4:56 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2026 at his home. He was born February 7, 1953 in Urbana to the late Leon and Elenor (Tabern) Evans. He married Debra A. Kew September 15, 1972 in Richmond, Indiana; and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Jason Evans, Shawn (Sherry) Evans all of Piqua; five grandchildren, Madison, Amaya, Christian, Whitney, Audrey; three brothers, Michael Evans of Piqua, Stanton (Nancy) Evans of Michigan, Marcus (Chrissondra) Evans of Port Jefferson; and he was excitedly expecting his first great grandchild.
Jack was a 1972 graduate of Piqua Central High School. He began his career as a steel mill operator at Miami Industries before transitioning over to Copperweld where he worked for 33 years before his retirement. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball and coaching youth sports in which his sons were involved. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and enjoyed his continued relationship with his best friends; “the five & dime club” that had season tickets together. He was also a devoted fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, loved music and was actively involved in a community drum circle. Most importantly, he loved to travel across the United States and Europe with his wife, with whom he shared their favorite trip together to England. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.
A service to honor his life will begin at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Larry Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00-3:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 2085.
