Gracie Abrams to Star in A24 Movie From Babygirl Director Halina Reijn

Singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams is making her acting debut in an A24 movie from Babygirl director Halina Reijn.
Reijn will write and direct the project, titled Please. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources tell THR that it is a period female drama and will be a continuation of the edgy romance genre that Reijn tackled with Babygirl.
David Hinojosa, who was behind A24’s 2025 hit The Materialists, will produce the movie, re-teaming with Reijn for the third time following Babygirl and Bodies Bodies Bodies. Reijn will produce through her Man Up Film banner, with A24 producing and financing. Zach Nutman will executive produce.
Abrams is best known as a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter behind tracks like “I Love You, I’m Sorry” and “That’s So True.” After opening for the likes of Taylor Swift, she recently wrapped her first solo arena tour in North America.
Coincidentally, THR interviewed Abrams last week at Chateau Marmont, where she was the guest of honor at a Chanel event to celebrate the house’s new Coco Crush fine jewelry. On the red carpet, when asked about her acting aspirations, she teased that something might be in the works, saying, “I love a group project. The concept of being on a set is as thrilling as being on tour where everyone who’s there is there for a reason. These kind of creative environments are so incredibly inspiring to me. So yeah, who knows? We’ll see. We’ll see.”
Ahead of the film, Abrams, the daughter of filmmaker J.J. Abrams and executive Katie McGrath, is set to debut new music, expected sometime in 2026. “It’s definitely my favorite music I’ve ever made, and I feel very closely connected to it. I appreciate so much that these albums are time capsules of where I’m at in my life at any given point, but right now it does feel very like me. I hope that whoever finds it, connects with it and that they make it theirs when it’s out one day,” she told THR.
