A special weather statement is in effect for the Halifax area with up to 50 millimetres of rain possible overnight.
Environment Canada said the rainfall is expected to take place Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with a total of 25 to 50 millimetres of precipitation expected along the coast of Nova Scotia.
“Heavy rainfall will be accompanied by very mild temperatures,” the statement reads. “There remains some uncertainty at this time as to where the heaviest rainfall will occur.”
The national forecaster said rainfall warnings may be required for some counties while temperatures are expected to be over 10 C above seasonal normals for this time of year.
“Water may pond and pool on roadways,” the weather agency notes.
