Leeds United reach verbal agreement to sign Argentina international this month

Leeds United have reached an agreement to sign a promising attacking midfielder in the January transfer window, with Fabrizio Romano promising “here we go soon”.

Leeds active in market with focus on attacking reinforcements

Leeds are expected to strengthen Daniel Farke’s attacking ranks this month, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s breakout over the last few months a hugely positive sign but the risk of his injury history still lurking like a bad smell.

The striker has scored nine goals in just 14 Premier League starts, and the Whites will believe if they can find another reliable source of goals alongside him they will be in no danger of relegation.

The most likely candidate appears to be Jorgen Strand Larsen, who has been offered around to several clubs including the Whites, who have also held talks with agents over a move.

However, it appears they have turned towards a creative influence first rather than an out and out goalscorer, agreeing a deal for a new attacking midfielder on Thursday morning.

Leeds set to sign Buonanotte on loan

As reported by Fabrizio Romano on Thursday morning, Brighton star Facundo Buonanotte is set to be recalled from his loan spell at Chelsea and immediately sent to Leeds.

“Leeds United reach verbal agreement to sign Facundo Buonanotte,” Romano revealed on X.

“Chelsea to interrupt loan move from Brighton, leaving CFC to return to BHAFC and then join Leeds.

“Move to LUFC will be on loan until the end of the season. Here we go, soon.”

The Argentina international has struggled for minutes during his temporary spell at Stamford Bridge, playing just once in the Premier League with his only goal for the club coming in the League Cup.

However, the 21 year-old has bags of potential, scoring five times during a loan spell with a struggling Leicester side last season.

Capable of playing out wide, as a second striker or most likely as a traditional number ten, the youngster will hope to get his career back on track supplying chances for Calvert-Lewin, perhaps earning a permanent move to Elland Road come the end of the campaign.
