Darnold (oblique) expects to play vs. Niners

Seattle Seahawks fans gasped when they saw Sam Darnold pop up on Thursday’s injury report, but the 29-year-old quarterback still expects to play against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night in the NFC divisional round.
Darnold is officially listed as questionable with an oblique injury.
“Kinda felt a little something in my oblique,” Darnold said after Thursday’s practice. “Just didn’t wanna push it. It wasn’t the day to push. So that was it. So just came inside and got some rehab and I feel like I’ll be ready to go on Saturday.”
A native of Capistrano Beach, CA, Darnold is in his eighth NFL season out of USC and first with the Seahawks. He appeared in all 17 games for the team this season, throwing for 4,048 yards on 323-for-477 passing with 25 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
The third overall selection of the 2018 NFL Draft, Darnold has previously suited up for the Minnesota Vikings, Niners, Carolina Panthers and New York Jets.
The Seahawks finished the season as the NFC’s top seed at 14-3. The team is looking to win its first playoff game in seven seasons.
