Popular women’s closing chain shutting down nationwide, 9 locations in Alabama

A popular women’s clothing and accessory chain is shutting down.

Francesca’s is closing nationwide, according to multiple media reports. Citing reports, Today quoted a spokesperson who said the chain was “liquidating our inventory and closing soon.”

A date for the shutdown was not given.

The chain’s website is currently offering all clearance for $15 or less and 30% off sitewide.

Francesca’s filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2020 before selling to TerraMa Capital’s affiliate Francesca’s Acquisition LLC for $18 million in 2021. However, in recent years, vendors, including several small businesses, complained online the chain hadn’t paid them for their products.

Founded in Texas in 1999, Francesca’s offers trendy women’s apparel, jewelry, accessories and gifts. The chain currently has about 460 stores across the U.S., including 9 in Alabama. The Alabama stores are located in Birmingham (2), Foley, Huntsville (2), Leeds, Mobile, Montgomery and Tuscaloosa.
