Mets, Blue Jays’ Final Offers to Kyle Tucker Before Signing Dodgers Contract Revealed in MLB Rumors

The New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays’ final offers to Kyle Tucker before he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in free agency on Thursday reportedly has been revealed.

According to MLB Network Radio’s Jim Duquette, the Mets offered Tucker a four-year contract worth $220 million. Jon Heyman of the New York Post later reported the “Blue Jays offer to Kyle Tucker was $350M for 10 years. They certainly put in a big effort.”

Tucker ultimately signed a four-year deal worth $240 million with the Dodgers that contained opt-outs after the second and third seasons, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

The Mets’ offer didn’t contain any deferrals, according to Heyman:

Will Sammon of The Athletic reported Tuesday that New York demonstrated “effort and interest” in Tucker throughout his free agency and held multiple video meetings with him leading up to his final decision.

It isn’t difficult to see why the Mets were targeting the outfielder, as he’s amassed 134 home runs over the past five seasons while earning All-Star honors in each of the past four years.

Tucker racked up 22 homers to go along with 25 doubles and 73 RBI during his 2025 campaign with the Chicago Cubs. He also recorded 25 stolen bases, posting a .266/.377/.464 slash line.

The Mets have already made several changes to their lineup heading into 2026, letting Pete Alonso depart in free agency while trading Brandon Nimmo and Jeff McNeil to the Texas Rangers and Athletics respectively.

New York will now pivot towards the remaining outfield free agents with Tucker off the board, as the team has been linked to Cody Bellinger. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic also listed Harrison Bader as a potential short-term target.

Meanwhile, Tucker is set to join the Dodgers as they attempt to win the World Series for the third consecutive year.
