Bruins, Golden Knights among teams in the mix for Flames’ Andersson

The Calgary Flames continue to shop defenceman Rasmus Andersson and there are four teams in the mix for his services, according to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger.

Among the four teams, Dreger says that the Boston Bruins and Vegas Golden Knights are strong contenders to acquire the right-shot defenceman.

Things can develop quickly. However, sources say 4 teams remain in the mix for Flames Dman, Rasmus Andersson. Two teams in the east and two in the west. Boston and Vegas are strong contenders. Unless there’s progress, there’s a decent chance Andersson plays today for Cgy.

Andersson, 29, is on the final season of a six-year, $27.3 million contract that carries a cap hit of $4.55 million. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and has a six-team no-trade list.

The 6-foot-1 defenceman has 10 goals and 29 points in 47 games this season while averaging 24:12 of ice time.

Calgary takes on the New York Islanders on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET and Dreger says there is a good chance that Andersson takes part in the game unless there’s progress in the trade talks.

He logged 26:55 with a plus-1 rating during the Flames’ 3-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday.

Drafted 53rd overall by the Flames in the 2015 draft, Andersson has 57 goals and 260 points in 583 NHL games.

The Flames sit seventh in the Pacific Division with a 20-23-4 record and are seven points behind the Seattle Kraken and San Jose Sharks for the final playoff spots in the Western Conference.
