Will there be a ‘Landman’ Season 3? What we know so far

Billy Bob Thornton connects ‘1883’ cameo to ‘Landman’ role

Billy Bob Thornton shares how his “1883” cameo as Marshall Jim Courtright led to his role in “Landman.”

Editor’s note: Season 2 spoilers of “Landman” ahead!

Season 2 of “Landman” is prepared to go out with a bang, all puns intended, with the penultimate episode of the season leaving a lot to unpack.

As work commences on M-Tex Oil’s offshore natural gas rig, Cami Miller (Demi Moore) fires Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris, telling him the president of her company “can’t be averse to the very thing that built it.” However, Tommy’s role as a key player in the oil games is likely to be far from over.

For much of the season, the two had butted heads over rebuilding the offshore natural gas rig, which everyone except Cami, who wants to bet big, and perhaps Gallino (Andy Garcia), had thought was a bad idea.

Meanwhile, Tommy’s son Cooper (Jacob Lofland) almost kills a man who attempted to assault his fiancée, Ariana, the entirety of which was captured on security cameras, and it remains to be seen what will happen to him. The incident occurs as Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) heads to a weeklong cheerleading camp, where she ends up with a roommate from hell.

Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, “Landman” depicts a “modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs,” according to the series synopsis.

“As oil rises from the earth, so do secrets – and Tommy Norris’ breaking point may be closer than he realizes,” this season’s synopsis reads.

In Season 3 of the series, Tommy’s breaking point may be closer than he realizes as oil rises from the earth, along with his secrets.

“Facing mounting pressure from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller (Moore), and the shadow of his kin, survival in West Texas isn’t noble – it’s brutal. And sooner or later something’s got to break,” the season’s logline says.
