Flames sending Andersson to Golden Knights

The Calgary Flames are sending defenceman Rasmus Andersson to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for a package including Zach Whitecloud, according to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger.
Dreger notes that the deal does not come with an extension for Andersson.

Calgary will retain 50 per cent of Andersson’s $4.55 million salary, according to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston.

Andersson, 29, has 10 goals and 30 points in 48 games with the Flames this season while averaging 24:14 of ice time.
The 6-foot-1, right-shot defenceman is in the final season of a six-year, $27.3 million contract, and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.
Drafted 53rd overall by the Flames in 2015, Andersson has 57 goals and 261 points in 584 career games.
The Malmo, Sweden native will represent his country at the Milano Cortina Olympics in February. He previously played internationally at the 4 Nations Face-Off last season, and also served as Sweden’s captain at the 2025 World Hockey Championship, taking home a bronze medal.
