Report: Dolphins hiring Packers’ Jeff Hafley as head coach

The Miami Dolphins have landed on their next leader.
Green Bay Packers defensive co-ordinator Jeff Hafley is set to be hired as the AFC East club’s head coach, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday.
Hafley, 46, spent the past two seasons in his role with the Packers after leaving his job as head coach of Boston College.
He previously worked as an NFL secondary coach with Tampa Bay (2012-13), Cleveland (2014-15) and San Francisco (2016-18) before becoming Ohio State’s co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach in 2019.
Hafley’s Packers placed 11th in points allowed this season, coughing up 21.2 points per contest.
The Dolphins finished 7-10 and cleaned house, firing general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel.
In a search aided by Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman, Miami landed on Packers VP Jon-Eric Sullivan to to take over as GM.
Now, Sullivan has brought in a familiar face in Hafley.
The Dolphins went 35-33 under McDaniel, reaching the playoffs in his first two seasons but losing in the first round each time. Miami missed the post-season in 2024 after being eliminated by the Jets in the regular-season finale. This year, their post-season hopes ended with a loss to Pittsburgh in Week 15, ensuring that their 25-year playoff-win drought would continue.
