Desharnais is eligible to make his return to the lineup on Monday night, when the Sharks visit the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.

The 29-year-old has been out of action since suffering an upper-body injury in late November. He was last in the lineup on Nov. 26 against the Colorado Avalanche, but there have been no reports on when exactly he was hurt. He was placed on IR shortly thereafter.

Desharnais has yet to score a goal in 20 games thus far, but he has registered a pair of assists. The last time the Laval, Que. native posted a point was on Nov. 8 against the Panthers. He has just one goal in 185 NHL games, that coming during the 2023-24 season with the Edmonton Oilers.

Desharnais is in his first full season with the Sharks. He was acquired by San Jose prior to last March’s trade deadline for a fifth-round pick.

Leddy was placed on waivers on Sunday, clearing the wire on Monday.  It marks the first time since the 2010-11 season that the Eden Prairie, Minn. native would be in the minor leagues. It has been a tough season so far for Leddy, as he has been a healthy scratch for much of the season since coming back from injury back in November. The 34-year-old has played in just 19 games, posting only four assists.

The Sharks (24-20-3) are fourth in the Pacific Division, holding onto the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
