Multiple wrecks reported across the Triangle as icy patches remain

Multiple car wrecks were reported early Monday, as the risk remained for some icy spots on the roads.

Messy and cold conditions for much of the day on Sunday left the potential for some patches of ice early Monday.

Monday is a WRAL Weather Alert Day until 10 a.m.

WRAL is following a series of wrecks across the area including ones reported at:

  • I-540 West in Wake County near mile marker 24 near Raleigh and Knightdale Boulevard.
  • I-40 westbound at Hammond Road in Raleigh
  • I-540 near Aviation Parkway in Cary
  • Roxboro Police told WRAL that icy roads caused several vehicle crashes in some rural areas of Person County, but no wrecks were reported in the city itself.
