FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY | Bitterly cold Monday night into Tuesday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Cold temperatures will continue to be the theme for the foreseeable future. A bitterly cold night is coming tonight, and then our focus starts to be on next weekend.
MONDAY NIGHT: Clear skies will be with us for the evening, with a few clouds overnight. It will turn bitterly cold overnight with lows in the mid to upper single digits. Wind chills will look to fall as cold as 0 to 5 degrees below zero.
TUESDAY: After a bitterly cold start to the day, plenty of sunshine will be with us. Just a few clouds show up in the afternoon as it will be another very cold day with highs generally 25-30 degrees. Mainly clear skies will be with us Tuesday night as lows will be in the low 20s with wind chills in the teens.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy skies will be with us to start the day, with a few rain showers arriving in the afternoon. It will be a chilly and windy day with highs in the low to mid 40s. Winds could gust 25-35 mph at times. Mostly cloudy skies will be around on Wednesday evening as we could see an isolated rain or snow shower. It turns dry again on Wednesday overnight with lows in the low to mid 30s.
THURSDAY: A mix of sun and clouds will be with us for Thursday as it stays cold. Highs will be in the upper 30s to low 40s for most. Some clouds will be around Thursday night with lows in the mid to upper 20s and wind chills falling into the teens.
FRIDAY: Cloudy skies will be with us for Friday, with a few flurries possible during the day. Scattered snow showers arrive Friday overnight, and snow will look to start accumulating late. It will be frigid with lows in the low to mid-teens for most. Wind chills will drop to about 0 or maybe even below zero.
SATURDAY: A significant winter storm is looking more and more likely for next weekend, with several inches of snowfall and travel disruptions a good possibility. Highs on Saturday only reach the upper teens to low 20s with wind chills in the single digits. Lows will be in the low to mid teens.
EARLY NEXT WEEK: A few snow showers will be possible into early Sunday, with a more sunny day coming next Monday. Temperatures will stay very cold with highs only in the low to mid 20s.
