Packers free up cap space with release of Diggs

Trevon Diggs’s time with the Green Bay Packers is already at its end.

The team announced the release of the cornerback on Tuesday.

Diggs, 27, appeared in regular season game and the team’s NFC wild-card round loss to the Chicago Bears. In the two games, he recorded a combined three tackles.

The Alabama product had been claimed off of waivers from the Dallas Cowboys on Dec. 31.

With the move, the Packers free up $15.5 million of cap space. The Cowboys incurred a $5.8 million dead cap hit by waiving him.

A native of Gaithersburg, MD, Diggs just completed his sixth NFL season.

For his career, the two-time Pro Bowler has 242 tackles and 20 interceptions, including two pick-sixes.
