People often talk about the atmosphere in the Montreal Canadiens’ locker room, and we got another piece of proof Saturday night with Jakub Dobes.
After the win, Jakub Dobes jumped into Samuel Montembeault’s arms. Literally.
It looked spontaneous, genuine, and it says a lot about Dobes’ attitude.
What makes the scene even more telling is the context.
Montembeault continues to get the bulk of the starts, and Dobes often has to wait.
Despite that, he had the smile of a guy who was just as happy as if he had earned the win himself.
In a locker room, those kinds of gestures matter.
A goaltender can be competitive, ambitious, and still be happy for the other guy.
Jakub Dobes jumped into Samuel Montembeault’s arms and was the happiest guy on the whole team after his partner’s win
It sends a simple message to the fans as well.
The Habs don’t just have internal competition, they have visible chemistry.
When you see a young player celebrate like that, you understand that he’s not sulking about his role.
And Montembeault receives it like a true leader.
We can talk for a long time about goalie rotation, upcoming starts, and Martin St-Louis’ decisions. But a winning team likes its goaltenders, and its goaltenders like the team.
It really is beautiful to see!
Speaking of what happened Saturday night and was caught on camera, let’s remember what Nick Cousins yelled after being assessed an obvious penalty.
He shouted “Me?” as if he’d done nothing, instantly sparking a reaction among Canadiens fans.
There was a ton of action, that’s for sure!
