Michael Obafemi: Blackpool sign Burnley forward on loan until end of season

Blackpool have signed forward Michael Obafemi on loan from Premier League side Burnley until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old returns to Lancashire having spent the first half of the season on loan with German 2. Bundesliga side Vfl Bochum where he made three appearances.
Obafemi made his senior breakthrough with Southampton before joining Swansea in 2021 and, later, Burnley, where he has made 16 appearances in total.
“I’ve learned a lot about myself recently and it’s a great time for me to come back to the UK,” he told Blackpool’s website., external
“I’m here to score goals and try to help the side climb up the table and get to where it needs to be.”
A Republic of Ireland international, Obafemi has won 12 caps for his country and has also played in the Championship with Millwall and Plymouth Argyle on loan.
“Michael is very talented and for us to be able to bring in a player of his quality is really exciting,” said Blackpool boss Ian Evatt, whose side are 20th in League One, outside the relegation zone only on goals scored.
“He has a point to prove and is desperate to get back to where he was in his career not too long ago. That can only bode well for us.”
