Sean Bean’s Gritty Fantasy Show Is Finally Running Out of Steam Ahead of Season 2 Updates

MGM+’s new Robin Hood series starring Sean Bean is finally beginning to slip down the streaming charts. The show wrapped Season 1 at the end of December and continued to dominate the charts.
Per FlixPatrol, the recently released Robin Hood starring Jack Patten, Lauren McQueen, Connie Nielsen, and Bean has officially made its way down to the number four spot on the list of the top streaming series currently available via MGM+ in the United States. The two-spot drop is notable, though not particularly drastic, especially when Robin Hood continues to dominate the streaming competition globally on the same platform.
Created by Jonathan English and John Glenn, both of whom serve as executive producers on the series, along with Todd Lieberman, Robin Hood stars Jack Patten as Robert “Rob” Locksley, better known as the titular Robin Hood, who kicks up a revolution against the invading Normans who murdered his Saxon father. Patten stars opposite Lauren McQueen’s Marian of Huntingdon, the daughter of a Norman earl who joins in the rebellion against her own people.
Robin Hood features a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham, Steven Waddington as the Earl of Huntingdon, Connie Nielsen as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, Angus Castle-Doughty as Friar Tuck, Marcus Fraser as John Nailer, aka Little John, and Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham. Rounding out the core cast of Robin Hood are Henry Rowley as Will Gamewill and Erica Ford as Rosemary “Ralph” Miller.
Upon its release in November 2025, Robin Hood was met with largely glowing reviews from critics and audiences alike. As of the time of writing, Robin Hood holds a 77% “Fresh” rating via review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as averaged across 13 critical reviews of the series’ first season. Robin Hood also boasts an 81% audience-generated “Popcornmeter” score, as averaged across more than 100 verified user-submitted reviews.

During a recent interview with TVLine, Robin Hood co-creator and executive producer John Glenn discussed audience reactions to the series, noting, “It feels like they really love this take on Rob’s story — that it’s an origin story, but with surprising twists on familiar characters. And people are definitely responding to the emotional layers.”
“And of course, the Rob and Marian love story has really connected. The simplicity of it. The beauty of it,” Glenn added. When asked about what the future might hold in store for Robin Hood, Glenn stated, “We know where we want to go, and it’s a big leap for the show.”
“It’s going to be just as emotionally messy and complicated — in the best way — and the world is about to open up even further. Stay tuned! There’s a lot of exciting story ahead, and we hope to be able to share it.”
However, MGM+ has yet to officially confirm that the series will return for Season 2, despite its ongoing streaming popularity.
