Cincinnati reports former UA guard Kerr Kriisa ‘probable’ to play against Wildcats

Former Arizona guard Kerr Kriisa might get a chance to play in his former home after all.
In the Big 12’s official player availability report posted Tuesday evening, Cincinnati reported that Kriisa is “probable” to play against the Wildcats on Wednesday after the sixth-year Estonian guard missed the Bearcats’ past four games with a separated shoulder.
Under Big 12 requirements, a listing of probable is given to a player with about a 75% chance of playing. On their night-before reports, teams are required to list players as “out” (no chance of playing), doubtful (25%), questionable (50%), probable (75%) or available (100% – must be listed only if appeared on a previous availability report).
Teams are also required to file updates 90 minutes before tipoff time the day of a game, in which players can only be categorized as “available” (will dress and be able to play), “game-time decision” (if coaches and medical personnel need to evaluate a player after warmups) and “out.”

Cincinnati said on the Big 12’s player availability report that former UA guard Kerr Kriisa is “probable” to play against the Wildcats, with whom he spent three seasons.
Kriisa is averaging 7.3 points and 3.8 rebounds over 14 games for the Bearcats this season. He started 12 games and has since moved to the bench to play behind Day Day Thomas, Sencire Harris and Jizzle James on the perimeter.
Cincinnati declined the Star’s request to interview Kriisa this week, saying he was focused on doing everything he could to get back on the floor. But we still took a look at his long college basketball career, and some of his comments during the Big 12’s preseason media day.
After signing with Arizona under Sean Miller during the COVID summer of 2020 and sitting out 17 games because of a pro deal he had agreed to with a Lithuanian club, Kriisa played the last month of the 2020-21 season for the Wildcats, then stuck around Tucson for two more seasons under Tommy Lloyd.

In 2023, Kriisa left for West Virginia, where coach Bob Huggins soon after resigned under pressure, then spent the 2023-24 season playing for the Mountaineers. He moved to Kentucky last season but missed most of the season with a broken foot and is now spending his sixth season with Cincinnati.
During Big 12 media day, Kriisa hinted that he might try for a seventh season, too…
