Blue Line weekend service suspension extended to Orient Heights due to upcoming cold

The suspension will allow the MBTA to perform tunnel inspections on the Blue Line between Bowdoin and Orient Heights, officials said.
Otherwise, the MBTA isn’t anticipating any weather-related service changes or cancellations, said the agency’s chief operating officer, Ryan Coholan. He said the MBTA has “begun to staff up” to handle problems that might arise.
During the Blue Line closure, free and accessible shuttle buses will make stops at Orient Heights, Wood Island, Airport, Maverick, and Haymarket stations, and passengers should “budget ample extra travel time,” officials said.
Fares will be free and the gates will be open at Airport station, Wood Island, Orient Heights, Suffolk Downs, Beachmont, Revere Beach, and Wonderland, officials said.
The East Boston Ferry will also be free and will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Schedules are available at mbta.com/EastBostonFerry.
There will be no direct shuttle bus service to and from Bowdoin Station, Government Center, State, or Aquarium station, but accessible van service to Government Center, Haymarket, Aquarium, and State can be requested by MBTA personnel or by using a station call box, officials said.
