Badgers kick off day one of Fighting Illini Challenge

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Wisconsin women’s track and field’s Shaina Zinter and Kyla Saleh opened competition at the Fighting Illini Challenge on Friday, taking on the pentathlon for the Badgers.
Zinter earned a fifth-place finish, scoring 3759 points. Saleh secured sixth place, tallying 2912 points.
The pentathlon kicked off with the 60 hurdles, where Zinter clocked a season-best of 8.72 seconds. Saleh followed with a 9.00 seconds run, good for ninth. In the high jump, Zinter put up another season best, clearing 5-1.75 (1.57m).
In the long jump, Saleh placed fifth with a mark of 17-9.75 (5.43m), while Zinter jumped 17-4.75 (5.3m).
The pentathlon finished with the 800 meters, where Zinter surged to a third-place finish in 2:19.30. Saleh crossed in 2:29.19, placing fifth.
