Stranger Things’ star mocks his own viral “weird running” videos

Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton has mocked viral videos around Jonathan Byers’ odd style of running. Clips from the Netflix series show how the star’s character runs hilariously sideways in some scenes.

The actor was pressed about the videos in an interview on The Tonight Show, with host Jimmy Fallon asking whether he had heard about them.

“How could I not hear about this?” Heaton responded.

Pressed on whether he had picked a certain run, the actor joked: “Yes. Total character choice… I don’t run like that.”

Heaton then proceeded to recreate the run with Fallon live on set, to cheers from the audience.

Stranger Things came to an end after 5 seasons in the New Year, with a documentary about the making of the final season subsequently dropping on Netflix.

While many of the younger stars appear in the film, David Harbour (Jim Hopper) and Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers) are noticeably absent from the project.

Opening up about the reasons for their exclusion, director Martina Radwan told Variety: “We just didn’t get the time. They were busy with other projects, and so we didn’t have the time to sit down. Unfortunately, with David and Winona, we couldn’t find the time. We tried.”

Speaking further about filming the cast’s final goodbyes, Radwan added: “That was hard because there were so many, and it was so emotional.

“For all of them, either half their life is ending, a quarter of their life. For the Duffers, they will never have a Stranger Things again. It was important to me to really unify the endings.

“Matt and Ross [Duffer] had to have the last word. I wanted it to be one goodbye. I didn’t want to separate all the goodbyes, because it’s a shared experience for all of them, including the crew.”

Stranger Things seasons 1-5 are streaming on Netflix.
