Your ‘Luxembourg Song Contest’ preview

All you need to know as Luxembourg selects its song for Vienna

HOW TO WATCH: You can stream Luxembourg Song Contest live on the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel. The show kicks off at 20:00 CET on Saturday 24 January.

Only two editions have taken place so far, but that’s not stopped Luxembourg Song Contest from becoming appointment viewing for Eurovision fans everywhere; all eager for an evening of sparkling entertainment on a cold and dark Saturday in winter!

And so for the third consecutive January, all eyes will no doubt be on the Grand Duchy to see what broadcaster RTL has in store for the 2026 edition of the Contest; a show which has so far proven to not just be a superb showcase of the Luxembourg music scene, but also in parts a celebration of the history of the Eurovision Song Contest, too.

RTL hosts Loïc Juchem and Raoul Roos will be on presenting duties for the evening, and they’ll be joined by prominent Luxembourgish actress Hana Sofia Lopes. And there’ll be more familiar faces making an appearance throughout the evening!…

Reigning Luxembourg Song Contest champ Laura Thorn will be returning to the show one year on from her victory with La Poupée Monte Le Son. And she’ll be joined by another trophy holder; the winner of the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, JJ, will also be performing and will be able to extend a personal invitation to his city of Vienna to the Luxembourg Song Contest winner.

Laura Thorn and JJ won’t be the only two Basel 2025 beauties popping up on Saturday night! Good vibes have been sent all the way from Iceland, via the VÆB brothers. And regular viewers will know by now that Luxembourg Song Contest loves a retro throwback to the icons of Eurovision past… for the 2026 edition, audiences will be treated to a 40th anniversary performance of J’aime La Vie by Sandra Kim, winner of Bergen 1986.

For the 2026 competition, RTL put together an international jury, made up of music professionals and creatives from the Eurovision Song Contest-adjacent world, to search for songs that could represent Luxembourg proudly at Vienna 2026.

Out of the 83 compositions submitted, the jury selected eight that will now get to take the stage at the Rockhal on Saturday 24 January 2026. And you can already select your Saturday-night faves ahead of the live show by listening to the eight entries right now:

Andrew the Martian – I’m The Martian

Daryss – Melusina

Eva Marija – Mother Nature

Hugo One – Born Again

Irem – Bad Decisions (Hush Hush)

Luzac – Prison Dorée

ShiroKuro – Eye To Eye

Steve Castile – Sweet Tooth

Voting on the night will come from both an eight-member panel of international expert jurors and a public televote. Anyone aged 14 or over, both within Luxembourg and abroad, is eligible to vote.

The first round of voting will commence after all eight songs have been performed and will result in a top three. These three songs will be performed again and voting will open a second time.

The song with the highest score this time will earn the honour of representing Luxembourg at Vienna 2026.
