Rhodes, Fatu didn’t actually have match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and it was awesome

I was curious how WWE would handle the Cody Rhodes vs. Jacob Fatu match at tonight’s (Jan. 24, 2026) Saturday Night’s Main Event special at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Fatu, after all, is rumored to be in for a big push as we head into WrestleMania season and Rhodes is still Rhodes, likely to be in one of the most important matches on that show once we get to it.
Who would be booked to lose?
That’s because they opened the evening like they were going to have their planned singles match. Instead of actually having it, Fatu attacked before the bell rang, WWE personnel hit the ring, and a wild brawl that went all around the arena got underway. That brawl continued all the way up to the point that WWE Champion Drew McIntyre showed up and put the two of them through tables from in the crowd.
The fans absolutely loved it, even if they didn’t actually get a match.
McIntyre hit the ring to gloat while Rhodes and Fatu were left to be picked up and helped out of there.
That wasn’t what they advertised but it was awesome, anyway.
