Liverpool 2 – 0 Tottenham: Liverpool claim first win of the season

After beating London Bees 6 – 0 in the FA Cup last weekend, Gareth Taylor’s side kept up the momentum as they ended their worrying WSL wait for victory.
They started strongly with new signing Aurelie Csillag’s attempt rebounding to Alice Bergstrom who hit the woodwork with a left-footed shot.
Tottenham’s first attempt came just before half-time when Olivia Holdt fired wide, but they were frustrated by the home side’s determined efforts.
Liverpool had their moments, with Cornelia Kapocs just failing to reach a Ceri Holland cross and visiting defender Clare Hunt making a decisive block to thwart another attempt.
But Spurs came close when Signe Gaupset burst through but was denied by Reds keeper Jennifer Falk, who rushed quickly off her line to block the Norway international’s effort.
Maika Hamano was then too high with a right-footed shot as the game looked to be heading for a draw.
Spurs, who could have stayed above Manchester United in fourth place with victory, were then left stunned by Liverpool’s late show.
Having been brought on in the 81st minute, Enderby made a superb contribution with her double.
