Avengers: Doomsday Shouldn’t Forget About The Massive Thor Showdown The MCU Already Set Up

Avengers: Doomsday shouldn’t forget about the epic slugfest that the MCU already set in motion for the God of Thunder. The second teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday revealed that Chris Hemsworth’s MCU character will be fighting for his daughter’s future when he returns for the fifth Avengers movie, presumably with Doctor Doom serving as his primary adversary.
As one of the greatest villains in the history of the Marvel Universe, there’s little doubt that Doctor Doom. mortal or not, will pose a significant threat to Thor and all the other heroes assembled for the upcoming team-up movie. However, it’s important to note that at least in terms of existing setup, Doctor Doom isn’t the only problem Thor should be concerned about.
Thor: Love and Thunder laid the foundation for one of the most physically demanding fights of Thor’s life. And yet, there’s been little indication that Marvel intends to follow through on that. But with Marvel keeping much of its plans under wraps and more cast announcements expected to follow, nothing is set in stone.
Thor Has A Fight With Hercules Coming
As a consequence for his battle with Russell Crowe’s character, Thor now has Zeus’ demigod son – Brett Goldstein’s Hercules – on his trail. Hercules, one of the strongest heroes in the Marvel Universe and a character often depicted as a physical match for Thor, has promised to track down and defeat the God of Thunder.
With Hercules looking for Thor in the aftermath of Love and Thunder, it would make sense for the two to cross paths in Thor’s next adventure, regardless of what he’s about to have on his plate with Doctor Doom on track to menace the Earth.
Beating Doom or saving the multiverse may be his goal, but he could get sidelined by Hercules anyway, and forced into a grudge match he doesn’t want. This could impede Thor’s journey and quite possibly delay the Avengers in getting much-needed firepower in the fight against Doctor Doom in Doomsday.
Why Hercules Could Be A Secret Avengers: Doomsday Character

On one hand, Hercules’ post-credits appearance may look like setup for Thor 5. But Love and Thunder director Taikia Waititi has claimed that Hercules’ inclusion in the movie was the brainchild of Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, which indicates that the plan for Lion of Olympus is less about a Thor sequel and perhaps part of a wider plan, specifically an Avengers movie.
Hercules showing up in Avengers: Doomsday feels like a logical path for his character, especially when considering his importance to the comics. Having joined in the mid-1960s, Hercules has been consistently relevant to Avengers comics, serving on multiple lineups and taking part in several of their biggest storylines.
Sometimes, he functions as a substitute for Thor, providing muscle for the team when Thor isn’t around. In that respect, he could serve as a replacement for Thor on the Avengers roster whenever his journey in the MCU comes to an end. Taking this route would allow Hercules an opportunity to make a great impression beforehand in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.
