Christian and gospel voices stand out in Grammy spotlight

From hip hop crossovers to gospel legends, this year’s Grammy nominations reveal just how far Christian music is reaching.
The 2026 Grammy nominations were announced Friday, with several Christian and gospel artists earning recognition across multiple categories. Among those leading the nominations are Brandon Lake, Lecrae, and Tasha Cobbs Leonard, each appearing in both performance and album categories.
Lake is nominated for King Of Hearts in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album category and for “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” a collaboration with Jelly Roll, in the performance/song category. The worship leader also appears as a songwriter on Elevation Worship’s nominated single “I Know A Name.”
Lecrae earns a pair of nominations for his album Reconstruction and for the hip-hop track “Headphones,” which features Killer Mike and T.I. The Atlanta-based artist continues to blend faith-driven lyrics with mainstream appeal.
Tasha Cobbs Leonard also receives two nods; one for her self-titled album, Tasha, and another for the song “Church,” her collaboration with John Legend. She’s joined in the gospel categories by veterans like Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans, and Shirley Caesar.
