Vanderbilt opened the season winning its first 16 games before losing to Texas, Florida and Arkansas. The Commodores snapped that losing streak with an 88-56 win at Mississippi State on Jan. 24. behind a 24-point effort by Tyler Tanner.
Kentucky has a win streak of its own going. The Wildcats claimed their fifth straight win on Jan. 24 by beating visiting Ole Miss 72-63.
Kentucky has struggled with slow starts and missing Jaland Lowe (shoulder injury) and Kam Williams (foot) has not helped. Another slow start in their last game nearly cost the Cats at the end when they found themselves clinging to a 62-60 lead with 1:05 remaining against Ole Miss.
If the Wildcats start slow again Vanderbilt could make them pay. In their last game the Commodores made nine of their first 10 shots against Mississippi State to take 22-4 lead 5:25 into the game.
