Rinku Singh Equals Record Of Taking Most Catches In A T20I Match For India

Rinku completed four catches for India in the ongoing fourth T20I against New Zealand in Visakhapatnam.

Rinku Singh entered his name in the history books on Wednesday (January 28) by equalling the record of taking the most catches in a T20I match for India. In the ongoing fourth T20I match between India and New Zealand in Visakhapatnam, Rinku completed four catches, which helped him equal Ajinkya Rahane’s tally.

During the India-England T20I match played in Birmingham on September 7, 2014, Rahane also took four catches for the Men in Blue.

The world record for taking the most catches in a T20I match is in the name of Maldives cricketer Wedage Malinda. Wedage Malinda completed five matches against Qatar in Doha on October 5, 2023. His tally of five matches was equalled by Sweden’s Sedik Sahak on September 6, 2025, and Bangladesh’s Tanzid Hasan on December 2, 2025.

Rinku completed his first catch of the ongoing match on the second ball of the ninth over of New Zealand’s innings. In an attempt to play an aerial shot off Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling, Devon Conway was caught by Rinku after scoring 44 runs from 23 balls. His second catch came in the form of Tim Seifert (62 runs from 36 balls), who was sent back to the pavilion by Arshdeep Singh.

On the fourth ball of the 14th over, Rinku completed Glenn Phillips’ catch off Kuldeep’s bowling, and then Zak Foulkes was also caught by Rinku on the last ball of the 18th over.
