Norgaard on UCL dream, scrapbooks and Nordic bonds | Press conference | News

Christian Norgaard is enjoying his first season at Arsenal, relishing the challenge of competing for minutes while building memories he hopes to share with his sons.
The Dane joined us from Brentford in the Summer, and has since helped us progress on all four fronts, including appearances in four of our seven Champions League games so far.
“It’s been a fantastic experience for me so far this season,” Christian said on Tuesday, “I would obviously love to play more minutes, but the minutes I’ve had so far I’ve really enjoyed.
“Also, in the competition we’re playing in tomorrow, I’ve had a few games, and for me it’s the first run in the Champions League, so it’s been amazing. Even though I’m not playing as much, I still try to contribute with everything I can around the group.”
While Christian was a regular starter at his former club Brentford, he’s been competing for minutes this season with the likes of Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi, a challenge he’s relished.
“It’s not easy, it’s fantastic players and it’s honestly a joy coming in every day, you train with these players of this quality.
“But it’s also a good feeling to see and feel like you’re a part of it, you can actually play on this level and I’ve been confirming that this season.
“Now it’s just about being patient, being hard-working and hopefully more chances will come.”

Christian Norgaard: Committed to the cause
Despite not playing as many minutes as some of the other midfielders in our squad this season, Christian still believes he can have a big role to play as we chase down four different trophies.
“I had really good communication with the manager and he’s been really honest with me.
“I feel that he’s happy with my role here. I think coming towards the end of the season, hopefully we will also need the whole squad and I’m sure I can play a role as well in the last part of the Premier League.”
If Christian were to play a part in a trophy-winning season for us, it would make a fine addition to the collection of his achievements his grandmother has documented over the past decade.
“My grandmother collects all sorts of different articles from different papers during the year. It’s fantastic, it’s the best Christmas present I get every year.
“She’s done that for nine years running, so I have a big stack of scrapbooks at home. The whole family sits around that scrapbook at Christmas Eve and it’s a very special moment for me and my family.
“Hopefully also with my boys growing up, they will look at these scrapbooks and see that daddy was alright at football!”
