Massive building fire burns in South El Monte; smoke seen from miles away

SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. (KABC) — A large fire is burning at a commercial building in South El Monte on Wednesday, creating a massive plume of smoke visible for miles across the San Gabriel Valley.
AIR7 flew over the scene, where heavy flames and smoke were seen rising from P&T Metals at 2215 N. Tyler Ave. near Klingerman Street.
A shelter-in-place order was issued for people living and working nearby.
It appears the property is a metal shop, with two large warehouses filled with recycled metal, including titanium and propane tanks. Both of the warehouses were engulfed in flames.
