‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Is Most Streamed Movie of 2025

“KPop Demon Hunters” viewership went up, up, up.

According to end-of-year Nielsen data, the Netflix title is by far the most-streamed movie of 2025 with a whopping 20.5 billion viewing minutes in the U.S. alone. Dividing that by the film’s 99-minute runtime gives the equivalent viewership of 207 million full movie watches.

The film, produced by Sony Pictures Animation, topped the year-end charts despite debuting midway through 2025, in June. Netflix gave it a couple of limited theatrical releases following its surge in popularity on the streaming platform.

Per Nielsen, 48% of people who streamed “KPop Demon Hunters” are aged 2-11. The animated kids’ movie about pop stars secretly slaying monsters to protect their fans charted on Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 for 25 consecutive weeks. The movie’s hit track, “Golden,” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eight total weeks and received an Oscar nomination for best original song.

According to a previously released data dump from Netflix, “KPop Demon Hunters” broke the streamer’s record for most-watched title over a six-month period with 482 million views. (Netflix tallies global data, while Nielsen measures ratings in the U.S.)

Nielsen released its own streaming data as part of its second annual ARTEY Awards, which recognizes streaming titles with the highest level of viewership. With 9.4 billion viewing minutes on Disney+, the runner-up to “KPop Demon Hunters” is “Moana 2.” The sequel and the 2016 original film together totaled more than 15 billion minutes of viewing.

The top streaming movie for general audiences is Adam Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2,” which nabbed 7.1 billion minutes on Netflix. And behind that is “Wicked,” which became available to stream on Peacock in the spring before moving to Amazon Prime Video. The Oz-set movie musical scored 6.8 billion viewing minutes across the two platforms.
