Going into the 2025 NFL draft, Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders were seen as the top two options. Ward went first overall and Sanders, after passing on the Baltimore Ravens interest in him, slid all the way down to the fifth round. Monken was the offensive coordinator for the Ravens at that time, making the pairing notable.
