Canyon Middle School in New Braunfels under active lockdown, police respond

A middle school in New Braunfels is under an active lockdown, and local law enforcement officials are at the scene.

Canyon Middle School reported that there was a lockdown on campus beginning at around 9:10 a.m. Friday morning. The school said the lockdown was still active as of 9:48 a.m.

Students and staff at the school are inside their classrooms with doors locked following lockdown procedures, according to the school.

The Comal County Sheriff’s Office says that the lockdown followed a “reported threat” to the school.

The school says that students and staff are safe, though they remain under lockdown as of 10:10 a.m. The school says there are no injuries at this time. The Comal County Sheriff’s Office says that there are no reports of gunshots on campus.

Law enforcement officials are on campus evaluating the scene. The Comal County Sheriff’s Office says that deputies, along with officers from New Braunfels PD, New Braunfels FD and other nearby agencies are on campus.
