A family from Cardiff have spent the last the last year searching for answers about where their beloved relative is. On Saturday, January 31, the day marking a year since Mark Kinson was last seen, police said his disappearance remains “unexplained”.
Despite “extensive enquiries” to try to locate Mark, 53, officers said there have been no confirmed sightings since that day a year ago. South Wales Police said their thoughts are with Mark’s family and friends, and renewed their appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
Mark, 53, was seen on Friday January 31, 2025, at 9.45pm on Uphill Road in Llanrumney. He was then seen at around 10pm in the Captains Walk walking in the general direction of Braunton Crescent. Never miss a Cardiff story by signing up to our daily newsletter here
Police said they “share the family’s hope that one day they will have answers to what has happened to Mark.”
Last year, Mark’s wife Angela spoke to WalesOnline and said that pair had a “lovely” and “very normal” life. She said that him going missing is “so out of character”.
“It’s the not knowing, the ambiguous loss which is the worst part,” Angela told WalesOnline. “We are conditioned to love, to love our children and love our families and friends. And we are conditioned to grieve. But we aren’t conditioned to deal someone close to us going missing.
“It’s the most difficult and emotional situation for all of us. Mark is loved very much. You never think something like this could ever happen in your life. It consumes us all every day.”

Detective Inspector Daniel Todd said: “Despite a thorough investigation, unfortunately Mark’s disappearance remains unexplained. We understand how distressing this is for Mark’s loved ones.
“We share the family’s hope that one day they will have answers to what has happened to Mark. We appeal for anyone with information to come forward. We will always act upon any new significant information.”
As part of the on-going investigation, officers have examined phone data and CCTV footage, searched open land, wooded areas, and riverbanks, conducted financial checks, and made numerous police appeals.
Mark is described as around 5ft 7ins tall and was wearing a dark grey/blue tracksuit on the day he went missing. Anyone who may have seen Mark, or who has information which will help police find him, is asked to contact South Wales Police quoting occurrence number 2500033949.
