Report: Bills hire Broncos coach Jim Leonhard as defensive co-ordinator

New Buffalo Bills head coach Joe Brady is wasting no time assembling his staff.
Denver Broncos defensive passing game co-ordinator Jim Leonhard has been hired as the Bills’ new defensive co-ordinator, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Saturday.
Leonhard, 43, coached with Broncos for two seasons, and also played 10 NFL seasons as a safety, split between the Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Broncos and Bills.
The Broncos’ defence was among the best in the league this season, allowing the second-fewest yards per game (278.2), third-fewest points per game (18.3) and recording a NFL-best 68 sacks.
Leonhard will replace Bobby Babich at the helm of Buffalo’s defence. Babich was recently hired as the Green Bay Packers’ defensive passing game co-ordinator after serving as a coach in Buffalo for nine seasons, including two as defensive co-ordinator.
Brady, 36, agreed to a five-year deal as the Bills’ head coach on Tuesday. The promotion came just over one week after Sean McDermott was fired.
Brady has coached in Buffalo for four seasons, spending two as offensive co-ordinator.
