Jim Ross Pitches A New Role For AJ Styles After He Retires From In-Ring Action

Jim Ross weighed in on the rumors surrounding AJ Styles’ potential retirement match at the Royal Rumble this weekend. With Styles putting his career on the line against GUNTHER, the WWE Hall of Famer believes that even if Styles steps away from full-time competition, he will still have a place in the company.
Speaking on Grilling JR, Ross shared his admiration for Styles’ career but admitted that his days as a full-time performer may be numbered.
“I’m going to miss him, but he’s had a great career. He’s a credit to the business. And so guys like that will always find work if they are seeking such. He may be out of the succession. He may not be on that list anymore, but you can bet your ass if they need him, he’ll always be a good shape. He could work with anybody, babyface or heel. So I don’t think we’ve seen the last of AJ, but I think we’ve seen the last of AJ for on a regular basis, those days are seemingly history.”
Ross outlined the specific role he would assign to Styles if he were in charge. That would be at the Performance Center.
“I stick his ass in Orlando. Mentor some of those kids, and it’s an easy flight. He lives in he flies out of Atlanta. There’s a lot of flights in Atlanta to Orlando. And so that’s where I would strongly consider placing him because it’s always good to have a fresh set of eyes and a fresh voice. And he’s both those things, and he seems to be of the coachable type. I think he likes mentoring. I think he likes helping, and he’s not gonna give anybody any bad advice.”
