One pedestrian killed, one hurt in Pima County crash

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The Pima County Sheriff’s Department says a pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle Saturday night, January 31.

The PCSD says deputies responded to the area of North Sabino Canyon Road near East Sabino Hollow Court for reports of two pedestrians being hit.

The male pedestrian, 73-year-old Rosendo Ojeda, died at the scene.

The female pedestrian was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Investigators believe the pedestrians were crossing the roadway when they were hit.

That vehicle remained on scene, but PCSD says evidence suggests a second vehicle may have also hit Ojeda and then left the scene.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a blue 2002–2006 Toyota Avalon.

Neither speed nor impairment is believed to be a factor for the driver of the first vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
