Sunderland winger Simon Adingra is set to undergo a medical in London ahead of a loan move to Monaco, sources have told Football Insider.

The two clubs have reached an agreement over a loan deal until the end of the season which will include a fee in excess of £1million.

Adingra arrived at the Stadium of Light from Brighton in the summer but has started just nine Premier League games under Regis Le Bris this season.

As a result, the 24-year-old has been keen to leave in search of increased playing time, with a move to the Ligue 1 club seen as beneficial for all parties.

The winger is under contract at Sunderland until 2030 but will be allowed to join Monaco on a short-term deal.

Monaco are not the only club to have shown an interest in Adingra during the mid-season window but they are now moving quickly to get a deal over the line.

The winger is not currently seen as a part of Le Bris’ plans for the second half of the season, with Romaine Mundle and Chemsdine Talbi ahead in the pecking order.

As a result, the Black Cats are keen for him to leave and get more regular playing time.

Monaco’s offer is also seen as financially beneficial for Sunderland, while the player is keen to complete the move after undergoing medical checks.

Should everything go to plan, he will be given the all-clear in London before putting the finishing touches on his deadline day move to France.

Sunderland to miss out on new winger signing

Despite agreeing to his departure in the mid-season transfer window, Adingra remains highly rated at the Stadium of Light, where he will return in the summer.

That is despite efforts to sign a new winger after Football Insider exclusively revealed Sunderland are keen to sign Tyrique George from Chelsea.

However, George is now undergoing a medical at Everton as the Toffees have moved quickly to beat off rival interest in his signature.

The 19-year-old has made just 11 appearances for the Blues this season, but will be set to play a bigger role for David Moyes‘ team.
