Anonymous caller threatens shooting and explosion; CSU Bakersfield locks down campus

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The CSU Bakersfield campus is on lockdown due to an anonymous threat.
An official with CSUB said on February 2, 2026, at around 2:45 p.m., they received an anonymous call from a person who claimed they had a gun and were going to shoot up the campus and blow themselves up.
Campus is locked down out of an abundance of caution.
Students and staff are actively sheltering in place.
BPD and University Police are blocking all entrances to campus, so nobody is allowed to come on campus.
Officials said as of 3:30 p.m., there is no active shooter on campus.
