Canucks’ Filip Chytil leaves game against Mammoth

Vancouver Canucks center Filip Chytil left Monday’s game against the Utah Mammoth and did not return after being ruled out by the club during the second intermission.

Chytil, 26, logged 7:36 of ice time in 11 shifts over the first two periods of Monday’s game at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. He finished with one shot on goal and a minus-3 rating.

The Canucks lost the game in Utah by a 6-2 score and remain in 32nd place in the National Hockey League, now with an 18-32-6 record in 56 games.

Forward Filip Chytil will not return to tonight’s game.

Acquired from the New York Rangers late in the 2024-25 season as part of the J.T. Miller trade, Chytil came to Vancouver with an extensive history of concussions and other injuries.

It hasn’t gotten any easier for Chytil since he joined the Canucks. The 6’2″ center has appeared in just 12 games with the club this year, managing just three points (all goals) in the 2025-26 season to date.

The Canucks and Rangers consummated the Miller trade on Jan. 31, 2025. In just over a year with the Canucks, Chytil has appeared in 27 games, collecting five goals and nine points; he’s under contract with the club through 2027 at an annual cap hit of approximately $4.44 million.

A first-round pick (No. 21 overall) of the Rangers in the 2017 NHL Draft, Chytil appeared in his first nine NHL games with his draft club during the 2017-18 season. He ultimately appeared in parts of eight seasons with the Rangers, topping out with 22 goals and 45 points in the 2022-23 campaign.

In 406 career games over his tenures with the Rangers and Canucks, Chytil has collected 80 goals and 173 points. The Czech pivot has added eight goals and 13 points in 36 career playoff contests, all with the Rangers.
