WNBA free agent Kysre Gondrezick is giving fans an intimate look at her groundbreaking Playboy appearance with a behind-the-scenes video shared on Instagram.
The video, posted by Playboy, captures the making of Gondrezick’s Playmate pictorial, photographed by Dove Shore. It highlights the former Chicago Sky guard as she poses in various setups, marking her as the first current female professional basketball player to earn the Playmate title for June 2025.
Gondrezick, 28, who was drafted fourth overall by the Indiana Fever in 2021, described the opportunity as an evolution of her brand rather than a shift away from athletics. “I’m not stepping outside who I am. I’m building a multidimensional brand,” she told Playboy in an accompanying feature.
The Benton Harbor, Michigan, native made history as the first Black professional athlete to grace the magazine’s centerfold, a milestone celebrated across social media. Posts from outlets like The Shade Room and HelloBeautiful amplified the achievement, with Gondrezick opening up about her basketball upbringing and aspirations beyond the court.
In recent interviews, including a podcast appearance on “Ay Lip Service,” Gondrezick emphasized her unapologetic approach: “I’m not gonna apologize for it … hopefully I’m paving the way for girls who never thought it was possible.”
The video comes amid Gondrezick’s free agency after stints with the Fever, Phoenix Mercury and Sky. She averaged 1.9 points per game over 35 career appearances.
