What is the controversy around Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl show?
Reactions to Bad Bunny as this year’s Super Bowl headliner have ranged from celebratory to cultural debate.
While many fans can’t wait to see the singer perform, some criticized the choice, calling out the Puerto Rican native’s Spanish songs, performances and his vocal support of immigrants in the United States.
Following Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl headliner announcement, conservative advocacy group Turning Point USA announced a counterprogram halftime show, dubbed “The All-American Halftime Show,” featuring Kid Rock. The show will be streamed online during the official Super Bowl LX halftime show, according to Turning Point USA.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the backlash in an October 2025 press conference and defended the league’s selection of the singer.
“He’s one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world,” Goodell said at the time, adding that the decision had been “carefully thought through.”
“I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism,” he added. “It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching.”
